Here’s What You Need to Know About Thorough Cleaning

Keeping your home in tiptop shape isn’t just about organizing every room and labeling everything you can get your hands on. As much as we all don’t like it, our homes are susceptible to getting dirty too. Oftentimes, the bi-weekly cleanup we do at home doesn’t leave our homes 100% squeaky clean. If you’ve been sneezing a lot lately, it’s a good sign that your home needs thorough cleaning. For that, you would need these essential items.

House Cleaning vs Thorough Cleaning

When cleaning, either by yourself or by hiring a house cleaning service, there are generally two ways to do it: general cleaning or deep cleaning. At the very least, general cleaning does touch a lot of bases – especially visible ones – but deep cleaning means that every nook, cranny and item gets attention. So for example, general cleaning clean and disinfect a shower, while deep cleaning provides extra attention to the shower door. Tiles are cleaned and disinfected during a general cleaning, but during a deep clean tile grout is scrubbed away. In general cleaning, microwaves are usually untouched, but in deep cleaning, the insides of a microwave is cleaned as well. And while you can expect general dusting from a general cleaning, you can expect individual items to be dusted accordingly through deep cleaning.

Items You Need

For the Floors

You would need a vacuum, rags, a mop, a bucket and warm water mixed with dishwashing sop. If you have hardwood floors, 4 gallons of water mixed with 1-2 tablespoons of dishwashing soap can do the trick, but if you have tiles, just make sure that dirty water won’t touch the grout in between the tiles so as to not discolor them.

For the Kitchen

You would need all-purpose cleaner, oven cleaner, a stainless steel cleaner for your stainless steel appliances, sponges, warm water mixed with dishwashing soap, baking soda, white vinegar, microfiber clothes and a few lemons.

There are many ways you can start deep cleaning in your home. For example, you can clean your kitchen sink with baking soda, vinegar, rock salt, ice cubes and lemons. Likewise, you can achieve the same by rubbing in baking soda with a sponge, then covering it with a few drops of vinegar. You can also scrub your tiles lean with grout cleaners, or even scrub your tub with baking soda, peppermint oil and liquid soap.
